Antiscalant

Prevents scale formation to protect RO membranes and extend system life.

Dosed ahead of reverse osmosis membranes to stop dissolved minerals crystallising on the membrane surface. RO concentrates whatever it rejects, so salts that were comfortably in solution at the inlet become supersaturated at the membrane face and begin to scale. Antiscalant keeps them in solution instead. It is a small cost that protects a very large one: membrane replacement is the single most expensive item in running an RO plant, and scaling is the fastest way to destroy a set.
