HCL Acid

Hydrochloric acid for descaling equipment and lowering water pH.

Hydrochloric acid, used across treatment and industrial maintenance wherever pH needs lowering or scale needs removing. Hard water leaves mineral scale inside heat exchangers, boilers and pipework, which quietly destroys thermal efficiency long before anything visibly fails; periodic acid descaling restores it. It is also the standard regenerant for cation exchange resin in demineralisation plant.

Severely corrosive and gives off irritating fumes — use only with ventilation and full protective equipment. Never mix with bleach, hypochlorite or any chlorine product: this releases toxic chlorine gas and has killed people in poorly ventilated plant rooms. Always add acid to water, never water to acid. Store sealed, away from alkalis and metals.
