Alum Powder

Powdered alum used to aid sedimentation in water treatment processes.

The same coagulant chemistry as crystal alum, milled to a powder so it dissolves faster and doses more evenly. That makes it the practical choice wherever alum is fed continuously into a treatment train rather than added by hand — powder goes into solution quickly and can be metered accurately, where crystals need time to dissolve first.

Keep dry and sealed — the powder is hygroscopic and cakes readily. Avoid raising dust; wear gloves and eye protection. Determine dosing by jar test rather than a fixed rate, as requirements change with turbidity.
