Non-Ferric Alum

Low-iron coagulant suited for treating water where ferric residue must be minimized.

A low-iron grade of aluminium sulphate, used where the iron content of ordinary alum would cause problems. Iron traces can leave yellow-brown staining on fixtures and fabrics and can discolour the product in paper and textile processing, so applications sensitive to that specify the non-ferric grade. It performs the same coagulation job as standard alum, with the iron contamination controlled.

Store dry and sealed away from moisture. Wear gloves and avoid dust when handling. As with all alum, it consumes alkalinity in use, so check whether the source water needs correction.
